Dover Arts Development and Watermark

January 28, 2011

I never got around to making a proper post about this so here it is, a few of the still images and extras from my film ‘mill’ and from my time at the Watermark Story shop.

Working hard. Dover arts development, watermark story shop.

Hello Marley!

First we have a blurry snap of Marley I took during a quiet moment inside the story shop, when full of members of the public the room seemed a lot smaller.

Dover castle from Western heights

View from Western Heights.

In the mornings (and sometimes in the evenings) before the story shop opened I would walk up the million bajillion steps to the Western Heights nature reserve, I didn’t have a lot of time to explore unfortunately.

Shots taken from ‘mill’, here are two different versions of the drill.

A lot of the stuff I shot never made it into the finished piece, here is a still from one such sequence.

Printmaking Elective

February 24, 2010

Elective work with etching and lino cut. All the letters printed here are the letter ‘A’ in different languages, think of it as an extremely low budget Sesame Street.
The scanner is far far away (on the other side of the room) so here are some bad photographs. As usual you can make things bigger by clicking on the picture.

Set pictures

Here are some behind the scene pictures from our “Krapp” animation. It’s not a particularly large set up, the floorspace is (very roughly) a metre and a bit square and all the sides are fly walls (they can be individually detatched for easy access).

Lighting is usually from three small Arri lamps. Except on days when three are not avalible, then lighting is cobbled together from one Arri lamp, a security light and some A4 paper reflectors.

Hollywood it aint.

The Flash component is being created by Mr Amer, who will be adding it over the top of the stop motion footage.

ND Final Show

December 7, 2008

Yet another old animation. This was part of my final major project for national diploma at (what was then) UCCA Canterbury.

This was my first full animation using Flash and my first attempt at lip synch, the whole thing was a bit last minute but the cheap gag gave me enough time to run away before too many questions were asked.

I also went a bit peculiar and planted a load of cress and grass as part of the exhibit.

Alice and Laura get stuck in.

Who even writes these things? George Maciunas that’s who.

And doesn’t he sound like a pain in the arse?
